About Clara
the ritual
encounter
The candidate co-creator and I get to know each other. I explain my work and approach more in detail and we see together whether the potential co-creator feels comfortable with this and wants to continue with it.
sharing
We meet at the co-creator’s home, so I can meet the textiles that are left behind after the farewell or loss. The co-creator tells the stories and memories that the textile evokes. I ask questions with the aim of looking for the meaning and feeling of the textile. Based on those answers, we think about a possible new place or form for the textile. Visible or invisible, carried or placed, indoors or clothing and fixed or changeable are examples of choices we try to make based on what feels right for the specific piece or pieces.
imagination
I use collages to represent the ideas from our previous conversation. The collages are an opportunity to make decisions about how we will truly rework the piece or continue our search for a better form.
creation
I take home the pieces we want to rework. If necessary, I first make samples to test different techniques or options, which I check with the co-creator. During the process of creating the piece, I stay in contact with the co-creator for any questions or uncertainties. The co-creator can, if they wish, be fully or partially part of this step of the process.
homecoming
The reworked piece arrives back home with the co-creator.
aftercare
A few weeks after the reworked piece is returned home, the co-creator and I have a final meeting. The co-creator can talk about the experience with the piece and the ritual.
